Bessou

The name of this restaurant means “home away from home” in Japanese, and there’s no doubt it has made a home for itself in the city: Bessou just celebrated its first year in business. The phrase also translates as “second home, as in vacation house,” and once you try the owner Maiko Kyogoku’s take on her mother’s home cooking, you might not want to go back to your regular life. (5 Bleecker St. 212 228 8502.)

Signed fine art Giclee prints on museum-quality, one-quarter-cotton 280 gsm paper with archival inks are available in two sizes:

5 x 7 for $55 (email me about this size)
9 x 12 for $95

Editions are strictly limited to 365 copies, and each annotated print is a beautiful reminder that our days are numbered.
