The name of this restaurant means “home away from home” in Japanese, and there’s no doubt it has made a home for itself in the city: Bessou just celebrated its first year in business. The phrase also translates as “second home, as in vacation house,” and once you try the owner Maiko Kyogoku’s take on her mother’s home cooking, you might not want to go back to your regular life.
