To step inside this Village steakhouse is to step into an old New York that by some measures is timeless, and by other measures dates to 1977, which is when the Knickerbocker Bar & Grill opened. Famed for its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks, the clubby room is popular with neighborhood residents and, according to its website, such celebrities as “Chris Noth, Josh Charles, Peter Dinklage, Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Jane Curtain, Jessica Lange and Paul Sorvino,” though if you’re going to go in for the whole “Old New York” thing, please don’t stare. Turn your attention instead to the live jazz: there are shows Friday and Saturday nights. (33 University Pl. 212-228-8490.)
