Pig Bleecker, which just opened last month, takes a broad approach to barbecue. Matt Abdoo, the former chef de cuisine at Del Posto and one of the folks behind Pig Beach in Gowanus, Brooklyn, combines those two experiences for a high-low time of it in Manhattan. Brisket ravioli with black truffle butter & Barolo is on the menu along with burgers and grits, for example. Abdoo told Eater’s Serena Dai, in a post that’s full of pictures of the interior, that he’s upped his game but he’s still aiming to comfort: “My hope here is after you sit and eat the food in this restaurant, you’re still getting that warm hug of barbecue, but you’re also getting that warm hug of grandma’s cooking at home as well.” He added, “A big old hug.” We could all use one of those these days.
