The Smith was christened carefully.“The name was derived from the general concept of ‘the maker,’” the wife of one of the partners told me. “The blacksmith, the tinsmith, the locksmith etc. The Smith is the maker. The idea being a restaurant in which everyone is empowered to create things and experiences that make people happy. From the cooks to the bartenders and even the guests, everyone is a maker.” she added. “It is a place where great food and drinks, fun and energy, warmth and hospitality are made.” We could all use more of that, and the Smith knows how to deliver. Not only is this location very popular and highly regarded on Yelp, it’s actually one of five Smith locations in New York and DC. How did I pick this one to draw? It was requested and I went out and made it. (The Smith, 1150 Broadway. 212-685-4500.)
