Annisa is closing tomorrow, May 27, 2017. Anita Lo, its owner and chef, is a magician in the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean she’s all powerful. After 17 years on the line at this quiet Village paragon of forward-looking cooking (following stints at Bouley in the 1980s and at Chanterelle in the ’90s), she needed a break. The news was announced early, in January, in part, she told Grub Street, so she could give her regulars a chance to say goodbye. “The summer is slow, so it seemed like a good time,” she said then.
