A charming Gallic spot known for its moules-frites and escargots, Bistro Vendome took over the old anniversary-night favorite March a few years ago. The mussels come in five varieties, and there is plenty of surf and turf on the menu as well. A couple of things to look out for: the prix fixe lunch, which is a steal, and the rooftop terrace, which is a delight in warmer weather. (405 E. 58th St. 212-935-9100.)
