Del Posto

The dream team of Mario Batali, Joe Bastianich, Lidia Bastianich, and Executive Chef Mark Ladner opened Del Posto in 2005, and they’ve had a remarkable run. The Times bestowed four stars on it in 2010 (the first such award for an Italian restaurant in some forty years), and it has received marks of distinction from Relais & Chateaux, AAA, and the Wine Spectator. But the owners aren’t ones to on their laurels. Last year they refined their version of luxury to such an extent that it made news. As Jeff Gordinier wrote in the Times, “The result at Del Posto is so self-consciously lavish that it may seem a throwback — on purpose. “It’s what my, and I’ll bet your, dad imagines when he hears the term ‘fine dining,’” Mr. Batali said.” (85 Tenth Ave., at 16th St. 212-497-8090.)
