Grand Banks
The F/V Sherman Zwicker “the last original saltbank fishing vessel in existence,” was built by hand and launched in 1942. “Each year the Sherman Zwicker would make three trips from May – September to the Grand Banks for cod fishing and in the fall she would sail down to South America carrying a cargo of salt cured fish, returning in the spring with a hold full of salt,” according to the Grand Banks website. These days, it transports diners out of a New York state of mind with a menu of seafood, oysters, and cocktails. Open seasonally, through October. (Pier 25 Hudson River Park. 212-660-6312 Reservations taken only online.)
