A staple of the downtown scene since the eighties, NoHo Star is set to shine but for a few more months. The word is that the Star, known for a menu of Chinese food and a whole lot more (tuna sandwiches with guacamole, Viennese turkey schnitzel) is closing at the end of the year. I’ve never been inside (I was more of a fan of the Temple Bar, next door, which is run by the same folks), but my ten-year-old daughter has. She loves the dumplings. Maybe if there were more like her, the place could stay? (330 Lafayette St. 212-925-0070.)
