A potential cure for the hedonic treadmill, Roman’s opened in 2009 with a seasonal Italian menu that changes daily. The owner, Andrew Tarlow, king of the Diner realm, was on to something. Since I launched this site, it’s been a much-requested drawing, and the restaurant continues to garner praise from all quarters. On a recent post to Yelp, a customer called her meal here “a life-changing experience.” She was from Los Angeles, speaking of hedonism. (243 DeKalb Ave., Brooklyn 718-622-5300.)
