I feel very fortunate to have discovered the power of drawing. The act of putting pen to paper in this way has a uniquely beneficial effect on my mental state, and I’m so grateful to be able to spend part of my life drawing, that I want to use my power for good. I’m excited to build virtuous cycles, and the more I can incorporate drawing into my life, the better it is for everyone.
So ever since I started this project, I’ve devoted part of my time to charity. Brian Tolle’s Irish Hunger Memorial, which opened in Lower Manhattan in 2002, contains a quote that has long resonated with me and gives direction to my efforts. “Well fed people have many problems, hungry people have only one,” it says. I’ve worked with City Harvest, the Historic Districts Council, and others. Drop me a line if you want to know more.
